On the 4th May 2025, KFMA headed to the Cararra Indoor Stadium for the Annual Gold Coast Open. This is the first timeKFMA have competed as a team, and we had 5 players enter- 2 in sparring and 5 in poomsae events. We trained hard for this over the last couple of months including extra Saturday training.

This is the first Gold Coast Open for most students and this environment can be overwhelming, but all students focused and represented KFMA to the best of their abilities. As with everything, competing brings opportunities for learning and personal growth- this is life and martial arts! We will be focusing on these in class over the coming weeks.

Players results are:

Brooke 6.13 Gold

Alexanda 6.00 Gold

Zara 5.89 Gold

Sam 5.40 Gold

Dani 4.98 Gold

This was Sam's first competition, and he had to learn two new patterns simultaneously to compete- this was a huge achievement.

Zara challenged herself by entering sparring and poomsae events and performed better than her previous tournament.

As KFMA's youngest competitor and his first taekwondo competition, Alexanda didn't crumble under the pressure and performed his poomsae exceptionally well.

Brooke, the senior of the KFMA team, achieved her highest competition score to date.

Dani was on her way to score the highest of the team but had a slip up at the end and still managed to bring home a gold medal.

I saw all of my students display exceptional etiquette today, not only during their time on the mats, but in general, and this is great to see. Good etiquette is what sets KFMA apart so well done everyone!

As KFMA's Master Instructor, it was great to see you all wearing your uniforms with pride. Thank you to all my students who put themselves out of their comfort zones today- this means a lot to me personally. You all did so well, and I am proud of each and every one of you.
